R38 A Well Fought Draw

FC Gifu 1 - 1 Avispa Fukuoka (ht 1-1)

FC Gifu finally found a bit of form and showed shades of the form which saw them regularly terrorize teams in the earlier stages of the competition.

Gifu though should not be content with just a draw here. The game was theirs after FW Aikawa knocked in a nice ball after 26 minutes. But a bogus referee penalty virtually handed a point back to Fukuoka in the 43rd minute when Hafner-Mike headed in.

In the second half both teams played on a similar level but with time slowly slipping away the referee continued to make bogus decisions against Gifu that resulted in minimal attacking chances for Gifu and thus a lack of any more goals.

For Gifu their defense was the tightest it's been in a while, while attack showed potential with Aikawa and Kojima the starting Forwards. Still though, this was three points that got away from Gifu... but I guess it's nice to even be able to say that after the last month especially!

Next game October 5th (away) vs Mito Hollyhock

These guys are on form, Gifu better watch out!

Winless Streak: 13 games

Hiya!

Just wanted to check if you think you'd come to Mito on Sunday?

Not the closest place surely but at least it's early!

Hi,

Just desperate to know if the rumour that Satoshi Otomo is half Filipino is true.

Can anybody confirm this?

Cheers

Vendo,
was considering it for a while but after just going up to Tokyo last week with my sister (on a visit to Japan) it might be a bit of a mission to get up that way again.
Hmmm and Im heading to Toyama next week for their Emperors Cup match...
...but Ive heard that the foods good at the stadium and Ive been wanting to go their for a while so I will make a last minute decision
on saturday night I guess. If I go I'll be sure to look out for ya!

...and as for otomo being half-Filipino... he does look it doesn't he! But I haven't heard anything about that. I'll get back to you on that one!

Yes, his mother is Filipino.

If you do decide to come to Ibaraki let me know tonight and I'll try to get myself stationed at the away gate if we have enough people (or if there are a huge number of Gifu fans!). Otherwise you can look for me at the commissioner and club president's box or just in front of it, near the player entrance area.

vendo mate,
unfortunately I won't be making the trip this time. Now I just have to pray that the one away game at Mito next year is not on a wednesday!!
A pity though, I wanted to go but...
Fingers crossed that Gifu can put up a good challenge tomorrow!

Thanks, Vendo...
So Otomo IS half-Filipino.

Is there a way to verify this?

(just wondering if he would qualify to play for the Philippine national team)
